I just finished an article on the Neglect of Unassisted Smoking Cessation. Stating that two thirds to three quarters of smokers successfully quit unassisted either by cutting down first or cold turkey. They imply that surely not reiterating this first off to smokers is an important part of the myopic thinking of researchers now because of the influence of pharmaceutical companies in funding such research.

I do have an interest in smokers participating in cessation campaigns but how they go about quitting does not affect me but from now on I will be letting smokers know that the most successful way to quit is unassisted but if they wish to use other methods that is ok too.

This, to me & according to this article seems to be the most balanced approach to this conversation.
