    While the links are good to point out, the answer does not lie in medicating kids early in the hopes of derailing the onset of seizures.  The rate regulatory system in the heart is run the same way that the brain cells are run--it takes a tremendous amount of energy to fire when they are supposed to.  This does not mean that we medicate both--it means that we need to address the underlying problem (mitochondrial dysfunction / ATP formation).
