... in response to Lymphedema Treatment
  1. Beverly Schroeder Beverly Schroeder United States says:

Why doesn't Medicare cover the surgical intervention for lymphedema? What can be done to convince them of the benefit to the patient ?The procedure is being done at major medical institutions with success for the past decade.  Medicare has yet to give a CPT code for the lymphatic venous anastomosis procedure. Many breast cancer patients suffer needlessly form this progressive disease-lymphedema . It is very sad that in addition to the  surgery and treatment to  eradicate many forms of breast cancer you are left with the consequences of the surgical intervention to attempt to cure you.Maybe if the  people of power got to wear compression sleeves and  pumps on a daily basis they would quickly change there minds on the value of this treatment and come up with a code.
