The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and LearnSomething.com, Inc. today announced the launch of the "Complete Review for Pharmacy Technicians Online," an online course based on APhA's popular national pharmacy technician certification exam preparation textbook.

The online course, the first of three to be built by APhA and LearnSomething, the leading provider of e-learning for the food and drug industries, offers technicians a comprehensive tool to prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national exam. The course reviews the key content areas of the PTCB exam, and it is presented in an engaging format that includes audio, graphics, interactive activities, and practice tests that appeal to all learning styles. The online format provides the convenience of on-demand training, allowing technicians to study anytime, anywhere.

The program, which is also available in CD-ROM format, can be customized by pharmacy employers to include company branding and organization-specific policies and procedures. Studies have shown that certified technicians often have improved morale, higher productivity, fewer errors, and higher levels of customer satisfaction. More and more employers are recognizing the benefits of technician certification. The online program is not only quick and convenient for technicians, but also an efficient means of providing training that is comprehensive, consistent, and customized to employers’ specific corporate environment.

LearnSomething and APhA will also offer the "Pharmacy Technician Certification Quick-Study Guide Online," a quick review for experienced technicians; and "Math Review for Pharmacy Technicians," a detailed math skills practice program. These additional titles in the online technician series will be available during late spring and early summer 2004.

All courses in the series will also include optional tracking of learner progress to demonstrate mastery of concepts, allowing employers to gauge technician readiness for the exam.
