Carlos E. Donayre, M.D., elected to distinguished fellows status, Society for Vascular Surgery

Carlos E. Donayre, MD, a researcher at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (LA BioMed), has been elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery- (SVS).

Dr. Donayre's election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence, according to SVS.

Dr. Donayre has been a principal investigator or sub-investigator in 21 commercially-sponsored clinical studies and six commercially-sponsored basic science studies. He is credited with 87 peer-reviewed publications, 29 book chapters and as co-editor of "Endoluminal Vascular Prostheses." Dr. Donayre is a professor of surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He also is on staff in the department of surgery at the Professional Staff Association of Los Angeles, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. In 2004, he received the Faculty Teacher of the Year Award/Department of Surgery Award from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Donayre is involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Venous Forum, International Society for Endovascular Surgery, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Southern California Vascular Surgical Society and the Western Vascular Society.
