Max Healthcare (MHC) (www.maxhealthcare.in) and Perot Systems Corporation (NYSE: PER) (www.perotsystems.com) today announced a 10-year agreement in which Perot Systems will provide IT outsourcing (ITO) and electronic health records (EHR) implementation for MHC. This agreement marks Perot Systems' first full ITO in the Indian healthcare industry as well as the company's first India-based healthcare client.

In this more than Rs. 90 crores contract, Perot Systems will provide Max Healthcare with full infrastructure management capabilities, data hosting, infrastructure support, project management support, help desk support and the implementation and clinical adoption of an electronic health records (EHR) system using VistA software, which is an open source software platform developed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for healthcare facilities. The integrated Hospital Information System (HIS) and EHR will allow access to complete patient information across MHC. These advances are expected to enable MHC to improve the quality of care and patient healthcare delivery through better record accessibility, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and care planning.

"Max Healthcare is striving to revolutionize healthcare delivery in India. In this effort, we were searching for a company with broad healthcare experience that could assume the responsibilities for our IT solutions and implement an EHR that would comply with evidence-based medicine and clinical best practice standards, ensuring quality of patient care. Perot Systems is that company," said Dr. Pervez Ahmed, CEO & MD - Max Healthcare.

The National Capital Region (NCR) India-based healthcare provider, Max Healthcare, is one of the top five healthcare corporate organizations in India, and it operates eight medical centers, offers services in more than 30 disciplines and currently has a capacity of 800 inpatient beds. MHC has embarked on an aggressive expansion plan, where it is setting up four large Greenfield hospital projects in the next two years.

"Our goal is to provide Max Healthcare with world-class client service and technology solutions, and in doing so enhance their ability to deliver care to their patients. This modernization effort is a major step for MHC and for the Indian healthcare industry," stated Chuck Lyles, president of Perot Systems healthcare group.

"The engagement with Max Healthcare marks Perot Systems' entry into the Indian healthcare market," said Anurag Jain, president, applications & process solutions group and managing director for Asia-Pacific for Perot Systems. "We expect that this new EHR system will enable Max Healthcare to improve the quality of care at the point of care by not only reducing administrative delays, but improving the availability and delivery of the right information for clinicians including nursing care. The new system will involve the highest standard of data security and confidentiality required for a healthcare environment, and will also help eliminate medical errors and ensure standard care workflows across Max Healthcare. As we are throughout the world, Perot Systems is committed to the transformation of healthcare delivery in India."

Perot Systems is a U.S. healthcare industry leader in providing IT and business process solutions for hospitals, and continues to expand its healthcare IT services in countries across the globe, including Canada, China, Jordan, Mexico, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and The United Kingdom.
