American Medical Systems (AMS) (NASDAQ: AMMD), a leading provider of world-class devices and therapies for both male and female pelvic health, announced today that it has been included as part of a multiple-awardees contract by National Healthcare Services (NHS) Supply Chain (NHSSC) to supply three of its clinically-proven female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) treatment devices through the Normanton distribution centre, United Kingdom.

The contract makes AMS' Monarc® Subfascial Hammock, MiniArc® Single-Incision Sling, and SPARC® Sling System available to women treated in any NHS hospital in the region through NHS (the public healthcare provider) serviced and supported by the Normanton centre.

“We are pleased to have our clinically proven products, Monarc, MiniArc and Sparc, included in this tender. Our Monarc device is one of the leading transobturator slings on the market, bringing relief to women around the world who suffer from SUI,” said Anthony Bihl, president and chief executive officer at American Medical Systems.

The Monarc Subfascial Hammock Sling System has been featured in more than 200 clinical studies by numerous experts in the field of urology and gynecology. One recent randomized prospective study found the Monarc delivered comparable performance to the leading retropubic sling, but with fewer bladder perforations (Green Journal, March 2008, Barber et al.).

AMS' portfolio of female SUI treatment solutions restore urinary continence through minimally invasive procedures and are suitable for a wide range of patients. Worldwide, more than 600,000 women have been implanted with the Monarc, MiniArc and SPARC systems.
