Innovex, a Quintiles company, and Healthcare at Home today announced that they have agreed to form an innovative healthcare joint venture in Europe, named Healthcare at Home Europe.

Healthcare at Home Europe, a separate legal entity run by its own management board, will develop homecare services, allowing patients to receive specialist treatments at a time and place convenient to them, for example, in the comfort of their own homes, or at their workplace. Healthcare at Home brings a track record of successful delivery of such services in the UK, enhancing patient care and choice whilst reducing healthcare delivery costs for commissioners, and Innovex brings in-country expertise and resources such as specialist nursing teams throughout Europe.

The joint venture will consider opportunities across continental Europe although the initial focus will be in Germany where a pilot project is currently being completed. The German operation will be led by Managing Director, Peter Teich, and a Management Team, and will roll out homecare services across Germany.

“More and more complex specialty products are coming to market, offering greater hope in many disease areas. The services offered by Healthcare at Home Europe will help to drive effective use of these products, ensuring all stakeholders – patients, payers and the pharmaceutical industry – realise the true benefits of valuable medicines in terms of improved health outcomes,” commented Justin van Gennep MD, Head of Innovex Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Patients have become far more aware of what they want from their healthcare service and patient choice has become increasingly important,” said Dr Gareth Jones, Director Europe, Healthcare at Home . “In the UK, Healthcare at Home continues to expand. Patients rate our services extremely highly – bringing healthcare closer to them means they can live as normal a life as possible. This new joint venture will mean more patients in more countries have access to such services.”

Following the successful launch of homecare services in Germany, Healthcare at Home Europe will explore further opportunities in other European markets.
