DOPS, which is the owned physician network for Danbury Hospital, currently supports 20 medical and surgical specialties and serves residents of Western Connecticut and Southeastern New York.

“In selecting athenahealth’s revenue cycle management services for our physician organization, we will now be able to optimize the financial and operational workflow of our member practices and enhance the performance of our entire enterprise,” said Douglas Magazu, Chief Financial Officer of DOPS. “With athenahealth’s software-enabled services delivered through one centrally-hosted national platform, interoperability and connectivity across our physician organization will become an instant reality, expediting improved financial outcomes as our care delivery organization deals with an increasingly complex reimbursement environment.”

As part of athenahealth’s software-enabled service (SeS), athenaCollector, athenahealth has built in a proprietary knowledge-base of payer reimbursement process rules, athenaRules. athenaRules acts as a proactive utility that will help guide DOPS medical providers and clinic staff away from making billing mistakes that impact operational performance and the overall patient experience.

“We could not be more thrilled to be working with one of Connecticut’s largest and most progressive physician networks. athenahealth’s centrally-hosted practice management platform will allow DOPS to experience a ‘network effect’ in which shared knowledge from across athenahealth’s entire national client base can enable them to improve their operational efficiency and outcomes through greater transparency into their practices’ financial and overall physician performance,” said Jonathan Bush, athenahealth’s Chairman and CEO.
