Competition endorses Siemens' practices and workplace strategies.

Siemens Canada Limited made the list as part of the 2010 winners of the Canada's Top 100 Employers competition. The list, compiled by Mediacorp Canada Inc., reviewed eight key areas in assessing eligibility; (1) physical workplace; (2) work atmosphere; (3) health, financial and family benefits; (4) vacation and time off; (5) employee communications; (6) performance management; (7) training and skills development; and (8) community involvement.

"Being recognized as one of the top 100 employers in Canada is an important distinction for Siemens" said Sean Walkinshaw, senior vice president, Human Resources. It is important for us to know we are doing the right things correctly to retain and attract the top talent and this award reflects our efforts".

Branded as Your Employment Experience, Siemens identified different workforce generations, trends and demographics and as a result, has made significant investments and changes to its people policies and to the organizational culture. The company's human resources' policies are geared to attracting, assessing and developing extraordinary individuals. By continuously introducing new initiatives and programs such as flexible work arrangements, more choices for employees in their total rewards package not just the traditional Flex Benefits plan, formalized mentoring programs and development centres, Siemens is committed to providing the best possible work environment.

"We are focused on becoming an employer of choice, not only in Canada, but globally as well. Winning this award solidifies our position and helps to enhance our profile across Canada", said Walkinshaw. "Our focus has always been to "invest in people" - within and beyond the company: in their education, in their professional skills, and in their ability to perform, as well as in an environment that encourages corporate social responsibility. Siemens' business success depends on the energy, enthusiasm and motivation of our people, regardless of the location across Canada, the department or position."
