NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Guidepoint Global, LLC, a leading primary research firm, today announced the launch of their Sleep Apnea Tracker, a monthly longitudinal data release that monitors and projects trends and market share in the worldwide Sleep Apnea market.

The Sleep Apnea Tracker captures actual patient usage for 87 different Sleep Apnea mask brands sold in the United States from 15 different equipment providers going back to January 2006. In the most recent dataset, over 46,000 Full Face Masks, Nasal Masks and Nasal Pillows/Prongs are captured, representing approximately 10% of the total market for Sleep Apnea masks. As a sign of the Tracker's historical accuracy and predictive utility, when Resmed Corporation (RMD) reported its results for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, it reported sequential quarterly growth in worldwide mask sales of 3.6% and year-over-year growth within North America of 23%. Over the same period, Guidepoint's Sleep Apnea Tracker mask data suggested 5.5% sequential growth and 19.3% growth year-over-year. The Sleep Apnea Tracker is available to subscribers through Guidepoint's online client portal, where current and historical data can be downloaded into users' proprietary models.

"Historically, Sleep Apnea has been a challenging area to follow, and anecdotal evidence of the state of the market was all people could rely on," said Maxim Jacobs, Senior Analyst at Guidepoint Global. "Guidepoint's new Sleep Apnea Tracker will provide followers of the Sleep Apnea market a more systematic way to analyze the area, and supply them with almost 4 years of historical data with which to extract lessons on the trajectory of new product launches within the market."

Guidepoint's Sleep Apnea Tracker will be its 27th Tracker, a collection of novel research products that monitor trends and market share in select medical technology and therapeutic industries. Information about the full suite of Trackers, covering areas including Cardiovascular Devices, Aesthetics, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Therapeutics, Orthopedics and Hospital-based Capital Equipment, is available at http://www.guidepointglobal.com.
