The following is a statement by Blue Shield of California CEO Bruce Bodaken regarding the groundbreaking for the Family Violence Prevention Fund's International Center:

The elimination of domestic violence has been a core objective of Blue Shield of California's charitable endeavors for more than a decade. That's why we have made this signature contribution to the Family Violence Prevention Fund's International Center in the Presidio.

We are proud to support FVPF as it works tirelessly around the world to advocate for women and children and cultivate healthy families that live free of violence. It's especially important to us that the International Center will provide world-class learning and meeting opportunities right here in San Francisco, where we have maintained our headquarters for more than 70 years. We thank Speaker Pelosi for her presence today, her support for this project and her ongoing leadership on combating violence and improving health care in America.
