Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) today announced that Baptist Health System (BHS), one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems and employers in Alabama, has selected Compuware's EHR Service Delivery Solution—powered by Compuware Vantage—to monitor the performance and availability of its Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are being met. With visibility into clinician end-user experience, BHS can now proactively identify and resolve performance issues before they impact patient care and prevent unexpected system downtime, maximizing productivity.

BHS owns and manages four hospitals throughout the state of Alabama totaling 1,576 licensed beds with 4,300 employees. With a recent transition to a "paperless" EHR system for an ambulatory rollout to physicians and clinics, clinician experience with technology has become a top priority for the BHS IT organization.

In order to ensure the best patient care, the BHS IT team needs to know about application performance issues before they impact the quality of care physicians and clinicians deliver to patients. They sought a true end-to-end application performance monitoring solution that gives visibility into EHR performance and turned to Compuware.

"Our physicians and clinicians expect and depend on our EHR systems to be available and working 24/7, problem-free," said John West, Chief Technology Officer at Baptist Health System. "The success of our EHR deployment will be directly related to the adoption of the technology on the part of the clinicians. Our objective is to meet and exceed the clinicians' expectation of performance so that the doctors can focus on patient care and not worry about system issues. Compuware helps us do that as well as ensure that SLAs are being met."

Compuware's EHR Service Delivery Solution uses Vantage to ensure clinical applications deliver the consistent, high-quality experience from the clinician's perspective that is required to maximize productivity and minimize risk to patients. The solution captures performance data across all infrastructure tiers, ensuring optimal EHR performance.

"As leading care delivery organizations like BHS aggressively move to deploy ambulatory EHR systems to meet meaningful use mandates, removing barriers to adoption like slow response will be critical to their success," said Larry Angeli, Vice President, Compuware Healthcare Solutions. "With Compuware's EHR Service Delivery, BHS can quickly pinpoint a performance issue and fix it before the clinical staff is even aware of it. This instills greater confidence in IT and directly improves clinician productivity and satisfaction with EHR systems."
