A recent study by IDC Health Insights that evaluated HIE vendors based on fit to market needs and ability to provide clients with a positive ownership experience placed Medicity as a leading vendor in the HIE technologies market.
“Our strong performance in the report reflects our established leadership in the market and reinforces the strategic reasons why Medicity and Novo Innovations merged in January 2009”
IDC's Vendor Assessment: Industry Short List for Health Information Exchange Technologies (Document # HI222529, March 2010) presents an analysis of HIE technology suppliers considered to be leaders in the HIE market. Medicity received the highest possible rating in nine of the 10 criteria used to assess fit to market needs and four of five criteria applied to assess the likelihood of a positive ownership experience.
The report also illustrated Medicity's high level of market penetration - boasting more than 100 contracting entities and representing 700 hospitals - with a strong presence in the regional and state HIE markets and an industry-leading footprint in the enterprise HIE market. "Our strong performance in the report reflects our established leadership in the market and reinforces the strategic reasons why Medicity and Novo Innovations merged in January 2009," said James K. Lassetter, M.D., Medicity CEO. "In 18 months we've fully integrated our company and products to offer our HIE clients a single, proven platform that addresses the data-distribution and the data-aggregation and inquiry requirements demanded in fully connected communities."
"The merger of Medicity and Novo Innovations was highly synergistic as each brought to the table a strong customer base and complementary technologies," said Lynne A. Dunbrack, program director, IDC Health Insights.
This synergy is in evidence in Medicity's 2010 contracting success - all new clients in 2010 have contracted for the fully integrated product suite, including the Novo Grid, MediTrust Cloud Services, and ProAccess clinical application.
"We're very pleased to see our products come together in this way," Lassetter concluded. "We offer our customers a full-service HIE solution that covers the spectrum of their care collaboration needs. In the short period of time since our merger, 25 percent of our customer base has contracted for the full company offering, and we expect that number to grow. This represents a strong endorsement from our client base as the HIE market continues to take shape."
