USPTO issues patent related to Derma Sciences' MEDIHONEY Calcium Alginate Dressing

Derma Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSCI), a medical device and pharmaceutical company focused on advanced wound care, announces that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued patent No. 7,714,183 related to the Company's MEDIHONEY^® Calcium Alginate Dressing.

This is the second patent granted in the U.S. covering Derma Sciences' line of proprietary honey-based wound dressings. This new patent further strengthens the intellectual property on the MEDIHONEY® line of dressings, especially with regard to the single-use sterile pouched dressings that are most commonly used in the treatment of wounds and burns.

Derma Sciences Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward J.
