Eight members of the clinical staff of the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia (VNA) have completed education and training to achieve Chronic Care Professional Certification (CCP).  The certification was awarded by Health Sciences Institute, St. Petersburg, FL.  CCP is the only nationally recognized program of its type.

Individual CCP certification is attained upon successful completion of the CCP learning program and online examination.  CCP is an advanced learning program that includes practical content, action learning and motivational interviewing to prepare the clinicians to address the real-world challenges of medical care.  The six RN's and two Nurse Practitioners completing certification training are: Monica Coleman, RN, BSN, Jaymole George, RN, MSN, CRNP, Cheryl Malloy, RN, Amy Neering, RN, BSN, Joan Raftery, RN, BSN, Kathryn Sakautzki, RN, MSN, CRNP, Linda Stankiewicz, RN, BSN, Nicole Thatcher, RN, BSN.

The VNA sponsored certification programs for all members of its Chronic Care Program team.  Upon achieving certification for all Chronic Care clinicians, the VNA has attained CCP Staff Accreditation Status by Health Sciences Institute.

"The advanced training and CCP certification of our clinicians will enable the VNA to effectively address the needs of our chronically ill patients by providing them with coaching, support and the tools they need for self-management," said Karen Alston, VNA's Senior Vice President of Home Health.  "Chronic diseases are the leading causes of death as well as hospitalizations in Pennsylvania.  As our population ages, the incidence of chronic diseases will rise.  It is essential for our clinicians to have expert knowledge and employ evidence-based clinical interventions to promote positive outcomes for our patients."
