Midwest Employers Casualty Company (MECC), the leading workers' compensation excess insurance company that helps clients to manage their Total Cost of Risk, today announced the unveiling of its Safety Cornerstones Express program to Self-Insured Groups (SIGs).

“From dozens of webinars to hundreds of safety trainer resources, this suite of services is truly useful. With our office's hectic duties we could never keep such important topics updated, relevant and distributed to members without our partnership with Midwest Employers Casualty Company.”

MECC has developed an exclusive suite of online services and content tailored to the SIGs competitive environment. SIG clients utilize MECC people, technology and online tools to enhance and tailor a member experience that is substantially different from their competition.

"The strategic and tactical support we provide to our self-insured group clients to enhance their competitive edge is unique," said Steve Link, Executive Vice President, Midwest Employers Casualty Company. "In addition, our shared focus on loss reduction keeps workers' compensation rates in check."

Under SIG programs, members earn their share of the underwriting profit and investment income each year. Those profits are returned to the member as dividends or offset future premium payments. MECC services help maximize member equity in their program.

"Safety Cornerstones Express gives our association services a professional boost with a private label product, thus targeting key accounts for membership and participation in our SIG," said Patrick Harrington, Plan Administrator at Michigan Retail Hardware Association. "From dozens of webinars to hundreds of safety trainer resources, this suite of services is truly useful. With our office's hectic duties we could never keep such important topics updated, relevant and distributed to members without our partnership with Midwest Employers Casualty Company."

MECC's Safety Cornerstones Express is a comprehensive library of industry specific OSHA, and safety-related resources, training and online programs for clients and customers. This information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Corners of Safety are analysis, compliance, research and training.

In addition to Safety Cornerstones Express, MECC offers additional services to SIGs including the following:

  • ResearchLink, an online medical research tool including more than 300 of the most common work-related injuries.
  • Best Practice Web Seminar Series, where SIGs can invite and train their entire membership on a variety of topics ranging from employee health and wellness to data management.

"The SIG that develops unique and powerful services to benefit members by generating lower losses is a real game-changer in the marketplace," said Lanny Cowell, President, Alternative Risk Services (ARS). "If a SIG can cement member loyalty while creating a value proposition that favorably impacts new business sales even during prolonged soft markets, then that SIG is a success. MECC offers SIGs the resources from beginning to end to become successful by offering not only the bottom line benefits but also to enhance their brand through the development of customized services."
