Medical technology paving the way

The annual Australian technology “Academy Awards” presentation marked a significant milestone for Sydney headquartered technology company Iris Interactive taking out three awards which sets them up for the world stage. Iris Interactive started 15 years ago by a working mother, Janaki Joshi, who identified a gap in the market for enterprise software focused on product commercialisation.

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) awarded Iris Interactive three awards- the iAward for e-health for their Iris Pharma Product Suite sponsored by Starlight’s IT Fund for Kids; the Merit recipient for industrial applications and the Inspiration iAward for their Iris Pharma Product Suite sponsored by the Victorian Government for the “best of the best” ICT innovation in Australia.  Iris Interactive now advances to the 2010 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards, in October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ian Birks, AIIA CEO said “The premier awards program for the technology industry, the iAwards is the only truly international ICT awards ceremony in Australia. AIIA is honoured to have awarded three awards to Iris Interactive, who are leading the way in innovative technology and changing the way companies operate and people work globally.  Iris Interactive will now go on to represent the nation at the 2010 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards, competing in Malaysia against the best technology solutions in the region, I wish them all the very best.”

Given the increasing demand for healthcare globally and the challenges faced by healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, Iris Interactive’s unique technology enables healthcare and pharmaceutical companies to bring innovative and often life saving medicines to patients sooner. They are better able to commercialise new products and specifically achieve faster time to market, higher sales and stronger brands.  Iris has developed the only product commercialisation software tailored for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry in the world.

The Founder and CEO, Janaki Joshi said “I am thrilled that after many years developing my dream, we are now not only recognised by our clients such as Novartis, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis and Wyeth for improving the way they do business but by the ICT industry body, AIIA awarding us with three prestigious awards.  As we continue to expand in Australia, Iris Interactive is launching in the US and the UK.  This award exemplifies Australia as a leader in healthcare and pharmaceutical IT solutions globally and driving innovation in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector by enabling innovative and often lifesaving medicines to be available to patients sooner.”

Will Delaat, Medicines Australia Chairman said, "Medicine Australia is extremely proud to see one of our members, Iris Interactive, winning three National iAwards, including the e-Health Award and the esteemed Inspiration Award, for the 'best of the best' ICT innovation in Australia.  Iris Interactive’s contribution to the medical and healthcare industry Australia and worldwide is being recognised.”

Leah Goodman, sanofi aventis Director - Portfolio Development said, “We are certainly pleased to be part of Iris Interactive’s success and benefit from their innovation.”

Iris Interactive are shortlisted for the Australian Pharmaceutical Research Innovation & Marketing Excellence Awards (PRIME) in September, 2010.
