PharMEDium introduces pre-labeled, ready-to-use Propofol in tamper evident syringe admixture system

PharMEDium Services LLC, announced the addition of Propofol to its custom operating room anesthesia syringe preparation services.  PharMEDium is the first compounder to offer Propofol in a pre-labeled, single patient, ready-to-use, tamper evident syringe admixture system.  Healthcare organizations recognize benefits of PharMEDium's prefilled operating room syringes including compliance with regulatory requirements for proper labeling of all medications, and improved economic efficiency by reducing waste.

PharMEDium's offering will fulfill an unmet need for customers assuring just-in-time, pre-labeled and ready-to-use Propofol in a syringe form. Propofol is used in inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures to induce anesthesia prior to the administration of an inhaled general anesthetic or as the primary anesthetic for total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA).  It is also used in procedures outside the operating room for sedation and anesthesia.  PharMEDium's service eliminates provider-prepared syringe drawn up in a non-sterile environment and reduces waste with the use of less than the full vial amount when a smaller dose is needed.
