Doctors now wise to ruse of false representation by medical associations

"Internal medical politics is considered 'inside baseball' to most observers, but America's patients should know the real score of how this game is playing out in their towns," says Doctor Adam Dorin. In the aftermath of Obamacare, doctors across the United States have become wise to the ruse of representation falsely promised by their medical associations.

Dorin adds, "Instead of faithfully doing the business of their constituent, dues-paying members, most of these groups have taken millions from the AMA's exclusive coding copyrights deal, plus yearly member dues, and lavishly paid their executive directors and trustees; all without considering their fiduciary and moral obligation to fight for the docs practicing in the trenches of America's communities."

Doctor Adam Dorin should know -- he founded Physicians Against Obamacare and America's Medical Society for the explicit purpose of providing true leadership to doctors struggling to preserve what remains of the essential doctor-patient relationship. As Doctor Dorin tells it: "Obamacare dictates that every state vastly broadens its Medicaid eligibility standards to accommodate upwards of 50 percent more people -- but does not fund the additional burden on local governments. Taxpayers of the State of California, for example, must spend billions of dollars to administer this mandatory expansion of MediCal (California's Medicaid) and must buy MediCal for many of California's 8.4 million uninsured residents."

Also known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ironically, its official name), Obamacare fails to fund the tens of billions of dollars Congress will reluctantly still have to approve every year to patch Medicare's underpayments to physicians caused by SGR, an automatic formula that offsets higher costs with lower doctor reimbursement. In addition, draconian cost-containment measures reduce Medicare's payments to physicians another 30% over the next 3 years, which will put an estimated 15% of physicians out of business and make it harder for everyone, not just Medicare and Medicaid recipients, to find a doctor.

The result of Obamacare's poorly designed mandates is not only that thousands of doctors are retiring early and/or quitting the practice of medicine, but also that they are resigning their memberships in medical associations which stood idly by as Obamacare was passed. Says Dorin, "the AMA's roles have dropped from about 17 percent to an estimated 12 percent of practicing physicians in the last year alone, and most local medical societies have been hit even harder."
