SciQuest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SQI) a leading provider of on-demand strategic procurement and supplier management solutions, today announced that the University of Bath will deploy SciQuest as part of a new eMarketplace. Integrated with an existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, SciQuest will enable the University to create a more streamlined, user-friendly process for buying services and goods.
Using SciQuest eProcurement technology and the existing ERP solution, the University will create an eMarketplace designed to simplify purchasing for all departments. The new system will have a more intuitive user interface, providing university employees with a shopping experience that is similar to popular ecommerce sites. With SciQuest, the University of Bath will also be able to further automate the overall purchasing process, communicating electronically with its suppliers. For instance, instead of receiving paper invoices, which currently have to be scanned, the University will receive electronic invoices.
"The eMarketplace will enhance the overall purchasing experience for our staff - making buying goods and services easier, more intuitive and less time-consuming," said Jo Andrews, head of purchasing services, University of Bath. "With a proven history of working with universities specializing in research, SciQuest is an ideal partner for our eMarketplace initiative. By streamlining purchasing and automating accounts payable throughout the University, we will increase overall participation in the buying, paying and settlement process while reducing overall spend."
"The new eMarketplace will provide all university employees, regardless of training or past experience, with a shopping experience that mimics how they interact with more consumer-focused shopping sites," said Max Leisten, marketing director of higher education for SciQuest. "With the addition of SciQuest, the University will also be able to further standardize purchasing and accounts payable, gain additional insight into contracts and past spend, help identify additional savings, increase overall efficiencies and accelerate the entire source-to-settle process."
