With the U.S. population growing grayer, job prospects for home health aides — and every worker providing health care to seniors, for that matter — are quite rosy. As the 78 million baby boomers live longer with more chronic illnesses, the country will face a shortage of professionals trained to meet the special needs of the elderly (Veciana-Suarez, 3/22).

The entire home health industry is running to stay ahead of increasing demand and changes in health care. Home health is the fastest-growing sector of the rapidly expanding health care industry. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 22 percent employment growth through 2018 for health care, with home health jobs growing by 46.1 percent (Raines, 3/21).
