Many children suffers from asthma and to deal with everyday life can be hard for children and parents. They need knowledge. "To understand the children's challenges in everyday life health professionals should ask the child and also listen to them", says Anne Trollvik that is a nurse and an university lecturer.

Her dissertation shows that seven to the year old children technically can use their own medicine but they forget it when they are playing or part of other physical activities.

She introduces a new group-based learning approach that encourages children to express their experiences. Stories, pictures and children's own experience was the starting point of the new teaching method that was tested in the research project.
