Sectra acquires product rights for Intulo from Krucom

The IT and medical technology company Sectra (http://www.sectra.com/medical) (NASDAQOMX Stockholm: SECT B) has acquired the product rights for Intulo, a system that monitors radiation doses, from the Swedish medical IT company Krucom AB. The system enables major time and quality gains in medical care and reduces the risk of patients being exposed to unnecessarily high radiation doses in conjunction with radiology examinations.

With an aging population, the number of radiology examinations is growing and they are becoming more complex. By gathering and comparing radiation dose values from performed radiology examinations, the care providers receive documentation that contributes to enabling the medical care sector to reduce radiation doses without impacting diagnostic quality. By automating data collection, the medical care sector saves valuable time.

"We are increasingly being asked by our customers about dose monitoring," says Torbjörn Kronander, President of Sectra's Medical Systems business area. "With this acquisition, Sectra will be able to provide a well-tested solution that contributes to enhanced efficiency and increased safety in medical care in an international market."

Intulo strengthens Sectra's product portfolio in radiology IT systems, which comprise systems and services for managing medical images (PACS) and patient information (RIS). Region Skåne, one of Sectra's existing customers, has been using Intulo for several years as a regional quality system for radiation doses, with collation, storage and analysis of radiation dose data from more than two million radiology examinations performed at some 100 radiology modalities.
