NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Ingenuity® Systems, a leading provider of biomedical information and analysis solutions, today announced that it has passed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) audit, confirming that Ingenuity's data center and Ingenuity Variant Analysis are in compliance with relevant Federal Regulations.

HIPAA Certification mandates strong security controls for managing patient information. By meeting the HIPAA compliance guidelines and controls, Ingenuity is able to securely serve clients such as clinical researchers, molecular pathologists and medical geneticists with strict controls on patient security, while providing intuitive web-based applications for quickly analyzing and accurately interpreting the biological meaning and clinical relevance of variant level information from NGS experiments.

"Privacy and data security is of paramount importance to patients and a requirement for us to effectively serve our customers and partners," said David Lewis , Privacy Officer of Ingenuity Systems. "Our HIPAA compliance ensures that all data stored and transferred between Ingenuity and customers is protected and that we are fully prepared to handle patient data in our analysis solutions."

"Data privacy and sharing are important areas when considering data analysis tools. We handle live-patient clinical cases which are extremely sensitive to these issues," stated Bail-Lin Wu, PhD, Genetics Diagnostic Lab Director, Boston Children's Hospital. "We are happy to see Ingenuity continuing to stay at the forefront in security and privacy best practices."

HIPAA certification marks an important milestone in the work with Ingenuity's partners, Laboratory Corporation of America® Holding (LabCorp®) and others, to bring a clinical diagnostic solution to the market for interpreting and classifying large numbers of variants identified by sequencing-based molecular diagnostic tests.
