USPTO issues three standard essential patents to Spherix

Spherix Incorporated (SPEX) -- an intellectual property development company committed to the fostering and monetization of intellectual property, today announced that the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) issued three patents to the Company in the month of August that are part of a standard essential family of patents.

The issued patents are:

  • U.S.RE45,065 issued August 5, 2014;
  • U.S.RE45,081 issued August 19, 2014; and
  • U.S.RE45,095 issued August 26, 2014.

The listed inventors of the three new patents, each entitled "VLAN frame format," are Paul J. Frantz and Geoffrey O. Thompson. The patent claims generally relate to methods for the transmission, identification and association of information in a virtual network associated with a data frame. The issuance of these applications further enhances the existing portfolio and coverage of technology related to data communication across different networks.

CEO Anthony Hayes stated, "The issuance of the these patents by the USPTO further bolster our holding of standard essential patents and our IP portfolio generally. As we continue to strengthen our portfolio, we believe it will further our licensing opportunities."
