Tracerco includes award-winning radiation monitors with PEDs to meet all radiation monitoring needs

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Leading industrial technology specialist Tracerco, part of the Johnson Matthey group, has added to its range of award winning radiation monitors with a family of Personal Electronic Dosimeters (PEDs), providing a solution for every radiation monitoring need.

The development of the extended range follows the success of the original dosimeter, the Tracerco™ PED-IS, which was launched in 2011. With more than 50 years of experience, Tracerco's scientists and engineers have worked to establish two further models; the PED Blue and the PED+.

The robust range of portable radiation monitors, is designed to be suitable for use in extreme weather conditions. With accreditation to ISO9001:2008 and EN80079-34 international standards, these monitors provide both standard and intrinsically safe instrumentation with an established track record in a range of environments.

The PED-IS can be used to measure radiation exposure in potentially explosive environments (Intrinsically Safe), making it ideal for use globally by the emergency services, the oil and gas industry, and in nuclear, medical and mining environments. Everything on the dosimeter has been designed with the user in mind, including the intuitive software, DoseVision™, which makes it ideal for users who are not specially trained to measure radiation exposure.

Featuring the same unique user interface as the PED-IS, the PED Blue, due to its optimal design, has a 10% weight saving and the device can be charged with a direct micro USB connection, so there is no need for a charging dock. With DoseVision™ software, the PED Blue is aimed at first responders, for use in medical and life sciences, nuclear and industrial environments and in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

The PED+, has several additional functions, most notably its ability to serve as a personal dosimeter and as a handheld dose rate survey meter. This off-body mode, which can be easily selected through the devices menu, measures activity through a live trend graph and logged data can be reviewed using DoseVision™.

The PED+ also comes with an alarm and pop-up message system, which clearly communicates procedures to the user, for example, setting a safe exclusion zone at the scene of an incident. The device is also supported by a mobile bluetooth application which allows an overview of up to 7 PED+ devices within a 15 metre radius. Data can then be logged by location via the bluetooth capability and GPS mapping.

The extended PED monitor range is the latest in a long line of industry-leading technologies from Tracerco. The award winning company revolutionised radiation monitoring when it developed the first ever intrinsically safe contamination and radiation monitor.

Managing director Andy Hurst said:

We invest heavily in research and development and are broadening our product portfolio to meet market demands. Our ethos of working with our customers to generate reliable, highly accurate solutions to their measurement problems is at the heart of our organisation.

This new range of monitors will allow monitoring activities to be undertaken across a broad range of environments safely, easily and accurately. It is another example of Tracerco listening to the market and developing products that meet industry needs. What we have achieved through good design and consideration for the users of the device, is a family of Personal Dosimeters with mass market appeal globally. The real selling point of our monitors is that they are easy to use and understand.
