NYU Langone Medical Center announced a generous multimillion dollar gift from Joan H. Tisch to establish the new Joan H. and Preston Robert Tisch Center at Essex Crossing, and to expand the existing Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men's Health.

The Joan H. and Preston Robert Tisch Center at Essex Crossing, serving both men and women, will be located in one of the most vibrant areas in Manhattan near the Delancey Street entrance of the Williamsburg Bridge. The site is expected to open late 2018, and will provide a comprehensive array of services, including primary care, ambulatory surgery, urgent care, cardiac procedures, orthopaedics and sports medicine, plastic surgery, and more. The 40,000 square-foot site will span three floors and will house approximately two dozen physicians who will care for an estimated 300 to 350 patients per day.

Previously, Mrs. Tisch provided an initial gift to open the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men's Health in May 2014, offering a masculine, yet spa-like ambulatory health care environment at 555 Madison Avenue between 55th and 56th street. The Center attracts more than 24,000 visits annually, and once the expansion is complete, is expected to eventually serve an additional 35,000 patients visits per year.

Part of Mrs. Tisch's most recent gift will support the expansion of this facility, more than doubling its size and increasing services. Plans include the addition of a third floor, increasing the total square footage of the space from approximately 14,000 square feet to 32,000 total square feet, comprised primarily of examination rooms, consultation rooms, procedure rooms, and common space. Expanded services will include the recruitment of additional primary care providers and preventative health professionals, as well as sleep and vascular care specialists.

"We are excited for the opportunity to again partner with the Tisch family, a longtime benefactor of the Medical Center, to create a brand new clinic that will serve thousands of new patients with the same superlative level of care that is now synonymous with the Center for Women's Health and the Center for Men's Health," said Robert I. Grossman, MD, dean and CEO, NYU Langone Medical Center. "We thank Mrs. Tisch for her continued support; there is hardly a corner of our growing Medical Center that the Tisch family has not impacted in some way with their generosity."

The Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men's Health, along with the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women's Health that opened in 2011, have transformed the way healthcare is being provided to New Yorkers. These models bring together multidisciplinary specialists with state-of-the-art technologies and centralized proximity to heighten collaboration and ensure seamless care for patients—all while offering a high-end and comfortable experience.
