1. HARVEY GROVE HARVEY GROVE United States says:

I do not care if the doctors do have a financial interest in their discovery. They are entitled to reap the rewards of their intellectual property. If the discovery is that good i find it immoral that he could not gain materially. Some company will gain. Why shouldn't the discoverer? Why don't you think of it as a reward for the discovery so that others have an incentive to pursue their ideas. In that way we all benefit. As it is you seem to be of the opinion that all inventors are pushing their inventions solely for profit. There are many who do it just for the recognition. Profit was not the main goal. Many inventions were strictly accidental. How about penicillin? There are a load of researchers working to develop a vacine for h1n1. The one who does it is certainly entitled to the rewards and there is nothing wrong for the discoverer or inventor to speak or write about it. Who knows more about it than the one who developed it out.

Nobody will benefit if it is not brought to market and this requires much costly research and development. I do not think a person should be discouraged from pursuing his/her idea to the end just because others believe the data is "incorrect". It has to speak for itself. The scientific method demands that the results be duplicated.

FDA has to make the final decision to market or not and they are not biased. If the product is safe and effective before it is marketed this is one of the checks and balances. If the promoter is lying or "fudging" information he/she will shortly fall into disrepute by his'/her own colleagues. The truth will out.
