GE Introduces new imaging solution for diagnosing certain diseases

Patients can now experience increased peace-of-mind and enhanced expert care during cardiac and vascular treatment, thanks to a first-of-its-kind imaging system from GE Healthcare. Called the Innova® 3100, the system is optimized to perform multiple studies in a single lab, eliminating the need for additional costly procedures. It allows physicians to clearly see the vessels and anatomy of the heart, as well as the finest vessels in other parts of the body.

The images produced by Innova 3100 are so detailed that physicians can more clearly see and safely maneuver the smallest medical devices. According to Mark Furman, M.D., Director of Interventional Cardiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, Innova 3100’s image quality allows his staff to make accurate diagnoses, and successfully treat their patients in the lab.

"The outstanding image quality allows us to more precisely measure the length of a lesion, then select and precisely place the stent best-suited for the patient – minimizing risk to side branches and assuring proper overlap of multiple stents," said Dr. Furman, who led the clinical validation for Innova 3100. Dr. Furman and his team of cardiologists and surgeons have used the Innova 3100 to treat hundreds of patients since its installation in late 2003.

Innova 3100 is the newest addition to GE’s industry-leading line of Innova imaging systems. More physicians worldwide rely on GE’s Innova systems to help them diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease than any other system.
