Black Diamond Video, Inc. (BDV) announces that Massachusetts General Hospital has selected BDV to integrate their state-of-the-art Integrated Digital Surgical Suites (IDSS) video and audio solution into their new operating rooms and vascular hybrid suites. The IDSS will enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivered by the Massachusetts General Hospital’s surgical, nursing, radiology, pathology and clinical engineering teams by providing high-resolution video routing, audio routing, multi-windowing, printing, recording and video streaming.

All IDSS high-tech features may be easily controlled by a user-friendly touch panel interface. High-resolution digital media content that the IDSS produces may be effectively managed through a central repository. BDV’s cutting-edge technology provides an all-digital video-processing infrastructure, which is scalable, future-proof and unmatched in video quality and resolution. Ed Priest, Founder and CEO of BDV, commented: “The adoption of our technology by leading medical centers like Massachusetts General Hospital demonstrates that we are at the head of the pack when it comes to all-digital, high-definition AV systems. Our IDSS is revolutionizing the way ORs operate, allowing hospital staff unprecedented control over surgical video.”

Massachusetts General Hospital, ranked one of the best hospitals in the country according to the 2009-2010 US News and World Report, will install BDV’s IDSS in 2011 into its new “Building for the 3rd Century”, the latest investment in its world-leading surgical and imaging services. This technology will provide surgeons the highest level of visualization to support the renowned neurosurgical, orthopedic, and cardiovascular teams inside the Massachusetts General Hospital operating rooms.
