Avisio to acquire a portable sensory technology asset to instantly detect disease-causing pathogens

Avisio, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: AVIC), a publicly traded commercialization company providing access to best-of-breed processes and resources, today announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire a portable sensory technology asset that enables instant detection of infectious diseases, eliminating the need for processing samples in a lab.

The sensory technology will be incorporated into a highly sensitive handheld instrument designed for field testing, and can be used in agribusiness to help secure the safety and ongoing viability of the global food supply.

The same technology will allow doctors, nurses and humanitarian aid workers to instantly detect disease-causing pathogens, including West Nile Virus, dengue, malaria and encephalitis. The device will require no specialized training and can detect pathogens from human blood, urine and saliva samples.

Upon completion of the acquisition, Avisio intends to make the product commercially available in the second half of 2010.
