LifeSciences British Columbia is pleased to announce the official launch of our partnership with Medicon Valley Alliance based in Copenhagen, Denmark. This partnership, called the Medicon Valley Life Science Ambassador Programme, involves the exchange of representatives (Ambassadors) between Medicon Valley Alliance (representing Denmark and southern Sweden) and leading life science clusters around the world. British Columbia is one of twelve life science clusters chosen to participate in this program.

LifeSciences BC’s Ambassador is Mr. Soren Harbel, who will work in Copenhagen for the next three years, developing new relations through facilitating science and business opportunities, and promoting networking between participating clusters. Mr. Morten Faester has been appointed as Medicon Valley Alliance’s Ambassador in British Columbia, and will work directly with LifeSciences British Columbia and the local life sciences community during the same period.

“We look forward to welcoming Morten who will provide great opportunities for our life sciences sectors. Companies should take full advantage of the fact that we have a dedicated representative in BC helping connect them globally,” notes Karimah Es Sabar, President, LifeSciences BC.

The community will have the opportunity to meet Morten at LifeSciences BC’s Annual General Meeting and Partner Appreciation Luncheon on September 22, 2009. He will be joined by Stig Jorgenson, CEO, MediconValley Alliance, who will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.

Commented Jorgenson, “There is great research in both British Columbia and in Medicon Valley. There are great companies in both BC and in Medicon Valley. There are great individuals in the life science industry in BC and in Medicon Valley. It is Morten’s and Soren’s jobs to make sure these researchers, companies and individuals meet and help each other grow, long into the future.”

The Medicon Valley Life Science Ambassador Programme will provide opportunities to access information between the life science clusters more efficiently while creating international partnerships, and helping companies achieve their international business development objectives. Companies interested in this program can contact Morten Faester at [email protected] or 604-602-5227 and Soren Harbel at [email protected] or +45 3287 8009.
