BioMed collaborates with AuthorMapper to add publishing metadata

Published on September 30, 2009 at 12:18 AM · No Comments

BioMed Central, the world's largest open access publisher with over 200 peer-reviewed journals, has teamed up with AuthorMapper.com and SpringerExemplar.com to add data for its 60,000+ published articles to both platforms.

"Providing the scientific community with additional assistance in research is the goal of these services. Adding additional publisher metadata increases AuthorMapper's value and we hope to continue to incorporate content from other publishers onto these free platforms," said Dr. Olaf Ernst, Springer's President of eProducts and Innovation.

"We are very pleased that BioMed Central's articles can now be visualized using AuthorMapper," said Matthew Cockerill, Managing Director, BioMed Central. "This tool will assist researchers, funders, librarians and policymakers in identifying important scientific trends and research patterns. The inclusion of BioMed Central's articles makes it possible to demonstrate the spread of open access publishing both geographically and across disciplines. Meanwhile, SpringerExemplar.com provides an extremely useful way to see the context in which different keywords are used within the full text of BioMed Central's articles."
