IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM), a leading national hospitalist physician group practice company, today announced that it has been named one of the "Best Places to Work in Healthcare" in Modern Healthcare's 2009 ranking. The national award recognizes 100 healthcare companies that are among the most highly desirable places to work in the U.S.

"We're honored to be included on this list of leading and highly-respected healthcare companies," said Adam Singer, M.D., founder, chairman and CEO of IPC The Hospitalist Company. "It's very gratifying that our hospitalist physicians and other employees have emphatically expressed their high level of job satisfaction with IPC. This prestigious award is solid evidence that our physician-driven culture of delivering effective, high-quality inpatient care directly contributes to their job satisfaction."

Modern Healthcare conducts this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry across the country. More than three hundred healthcare companies participated in the publication's healthcare workplace recognition program this year. In selecting the top healthcare workplaces, the program collected information from both the employer and employees. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.
