Life science reagents supplier Kapa Biosystems announced today that its Research, Development and Manufacturing facility has received ISO 9001:2008 certification from SABS Commercial (Pty) Ltd. The Woburn, Mass.-based firm employs a high-throughput molecular evolution technology platform to optimize enzymes for DNA amplification, next-generation DNA sequencing and molecular diagnostic applications. Kapa Biosystems offers a range of PCR reagents that contain novel DNA polymerases that are fundamentally different at the protein level when compared to wild-type enzymes.

The ISO 9000 family of standards represents an international consensus on good quality management practices. ISO 9001:2008 provides a set of standardized requirements for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family against which organizations can be certified. The ISO 9001:2008 standard provides a tried and tested framework for taking a systematic approach to managing the organization's processes so that they consistently turn out product that satisfies customers' expectations, said Kapa Biosystems.
