ACR Image Metrix™, an imaging contract research organization (CRO) located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is pleased to announce that Mehdi Adineh, Ph.D., scientific director of the imaging core laboratory of the American College of Radiology (ACR), has been named an industry leader by Life Science Leader magazine.
Along with the honor of being recognized as an industry leader, Dr. Adineh’s article titled “Imaging Methods in Drug Development” appeared in the October 2009 issue of Life Science Leader.
In his article, Dr. Adineh discusses the importance of medical imaging throughout all phases of drug development. He stresses how imaging results, specifically functional imaging, can help diagnose a disease and determine a treatment, prognosis, progression, and outcome in a clinical study.
“It [functional imaging] has improved our ability to detect and stage tumors, select and monitor treatment, gauge prognosis, and measure outcomes. Functional imaging techniques have emerged as attractive biomarkers,” Dr. Adineh stated.
Dr. Adineh, an imaging physicist, has contributed significantly to developing novel imaging techniques for biomarker investigations, as well as the verification of imaging instrument performance and standardization of image acquisition protocols across sites. The central focus of his translational medicine research is bridging the gap between basic science research and clinical trials.
“Dr. Adineh has more than 15 years of experience in application of multi-modality image acquisition processing multi center clinical trials,” stated Mike Morales, general manager. “His combination of experience and technology provides a platform for a promising future in drug development.”
