Medline, 3M reach an amicable agreement over surgical hand cleaner allegations

Medline Industries, Inc., based in Mundelein, Illinois, and 3M Company, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, announced today that they have amicably reached an agreement resolving all claims between them based on allegations that each company made false claims in advertising promoting their respective surgical hand cleaners, Medline’s Sterillium® Rub and 3M’s Avagard™ Surgical Hand Antiseptic. Both products are used by doctors, nurses and other health care providers in preventing infection. The terms of the parties’ agreement are confidential. The parties’ claims against one another, currently pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, will be dismissed.
