Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process solutions, announced today it was awarded a $20 million contract by the Department of Defense (DoD) to implement an integrated Single Sign-On (SSO) and Context Management capability throughout the Military Health System.
The new capability will enable military doctors and military health personnel a streamlined, efficient and secure method of accessing and viewing patient information and clinical data. The focus of the new capability is to improve care for wounded warriors by ensuring up-to-date information about the right patient at the right time, from the battlefield -- or theater -- to military hospitals around the world. Patient care is expected to become higher quality and provided sooner as a result of this order.
In the first phase of the contract, Vangent will deploy the DoD Enterprise Solution for SSO and Context Management to medical practitioners in Theaters of Operations. The capability will provide better quality of care for Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen who are facing injury in combat of operations. In addition, the capability will be deployed to the Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL (FHCC). The FHCC will be the nation's first integrated federal health care center designed with one unified governance structure and a single, shared mission where medical professionals from the DoD and Department of Veterans Affairs will work side-by-side in the same facility to provide health care for patients.
When fully deployed, the DoD's Enterprise SSO and Context Management capability will be used by an estimated 90,000 military doctors and clinicians in the U.S. and around the world.
