DrNatura provides tips to maintain healthy figure during this holiday season

The holiday season is now in full gear. Along with it comes added stress and, for many, added inches to their waistlines. But the holidays don't need to automatically mean weight gain. Lynn Hardy, N.D., C.N.C., of DrNatura, the global leader in the field of natural wellness and colon cleanse products, provides these tips to maintain a healthy figure this season.

"Wouldn't it be nice to have a different New Year's resolution this year other than losing weight?" said Hardy. "By following a few easy tips each day, it's possible not only to keep your figure during the holidays, but to also shed a few pounds in the process."

-- Take a fiber supplement before meals to achieve a fuller feeling and reduce the appetite. Taking a scoop of DrNatura Colonix fiber before breakfast and dinner reduces the transit time of food in the bowels and can help keep weight under control. -- Drink eight glasses of water a day. Water not only suppresses the appetite, but it also helps to metabolize stored fat into usable energy. -- Watch out for refined carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta, rice, and sweets, which are quickly converted to glucose in the body which if not burned off is stored as fat. Choose complex carbs instead, such as brown rice, whole grain bread and pasta, bran, and oats, which are high in fiber, help slow down food digestion and glucose absorption, and leave you feeling fuller longer. -- Eat food slowly - it takes about 20 minutes for the brain to signal your body that it is full, so wait 20 minutes before reaching for seconds. -- Watch portion sizes. To stop from overeating during the holidays, try using smaller plates to trick your mind into thinking you're eating more. -- Get moving. Even if the gym is out of the question, every little bit of exercise helps, so park at the far end of the mall parking lot, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or take a brisk walk on your lunch break at work.

If all else fails, it's not the end of the world, says Hardy. "Try to relax and enjoy the holidays. If you do gain a couple of pounds you can always cleanse your body with the DrNatura Colonix colon cleansing and Toxinout detox programs to get back on the right track."
