The Mirion Technologies Health Physics Division announced it has delivered SPIR Detect area radiation monitors to the Italian Civil Defense Authority. These highly sensitive monitors are easy to deploy and can be installed permanently in a location or used as portable radiological monitors.

“We are honored to have been selected to provide the Italian Civil Defense Authority with these flexible area radiation monitors”

The SPIR Detect, from Mirion’s MGP Instruments product line, is a new concept for site or critical infrastructure protection against radiological threats. Mirion’s SPIR Detect is based on a network of sensitive gamma/neutron detectors that can be deployed in either a mobile or fixed environment. These monitors provide a discrete and centralized survey of access points, making them ideal for use in airports, railway stations, or special events.

“We are honored to have been selected to provide the Italian Civil Defense Authority with these flexible area radiation monitors,” said Antony Besso, President of Mirion’s Health Physics Division. “We are committed to providing the civil defense industry with new solutions that assist with detection and identification of radioactive materials.”
