Alpha II announces new medical coding content for medical facilities

Alpha II, a leader in healthcare coding, compliance and reimbursement, announced today a medical coding content offering, supplying the customers of its developer partners with Alpha II CodeSets – including ICD-9 CM (International Classification of Disease, 9th edition Clinical Modifications), CPT® (Current Procedural Terminology) and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) codes.

“This new direct offering of ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS content will have demonstrable impact for the medical coding customers of our developer partners – allowing them to capture more legitimate reimbursement through fast, accurate coding.”

Through this offering, software developers will not need to retrofit the format and interface of their healthcare information system platforms, allowing their existing customer base to retain the same workflow processes. Previously, these same medical facilities procured the content through multiple external sources, which can lead to inconsistencies of the data parameters when integrating with existing systems. Now, end users and their practice management vendors can utilize one source, supplying one consistent format for all code sets that are updated quarterly when available.

Atlanta-based Sage Software is the first developer partner to work with Alpha II in the direct offering of the CodeSets to its customers. In addition to this medical code set content purchase, Alpha II recently integrated its ClaimStaker product as a fully supported component of Sage practice management systems, such as Intergy, Medical Manager and MedWare. That technology integration allows Intergy, Medical Manager, and MedWare users to verify both professional and institutional claims from the payer’s perspective, and facilitating the use of Alpha II CodeSets is a logical extension of this relationship.

“As the industry evolves through new legislation and coding standards, Alpha II continues to look for ways to better serve our software developer partners and extended healthcare provider customer base,” said Stuart Newsome, vice president, business development of Unicor Medical, one of the software developers behind the Alpha II cobranded solution. “This new direct offering of ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS content will have demonstrable impact for the medical coding customers of our developer partners – allowing them to capture more legitimate reimbursement through fast, accurate coding.”

Alpha II’s revenue cycle management products can be used by information technology vendors and other developers as embedded software or can be implemented as a stand-alone solution directly for healthcare providers.
