Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced that it signed a multi-year agreement with MultiPlan, Inc., effective Jan. 1, 2010. The agreement includes participation in the PHCS (formerly Private Healthcare Systems) Network, the MultiPlan Network and, in select markets, PHCS Savility, which is MultiPlan’s newest primary PPO network.

“Tenet Healthcare is recognized for its commitment to quality health care”

The agreement includes all hospitals owned and operated by Tenet subsidiaries as well as Tenet's 59 freestanding diagnostic imaging centers and ambulatory surgery centers. Tenet Physicians, Inc., which contracts for the more than 400 physicians employed by various Tenet subsidiaries, also is part of the new agreement. The physicians represented by Tenet Physicians, Inc. include traditional primary care specialties (family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and pediatrics), as well as medical and surgical specialties.

“We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with MultiPlan,” said Clint Hailey, Tenet’s chief managed care officer. “National contracts with PPO networks like those offered by MultiPlan allow us to standardize and simplify payment methodologies across all of our facilities. MultiPlan is one of Tenet’s top 10 largest health care partners when ranked by revenue.”

“Tenet Healthcare is recognized for its commitment to quality health care,” said Dale White, executive vice president of sales and account management at MultiPlan. “We are delighted we can continue to offer our clients and their members access to this health system and its employed physicians.”
