HealthPort,
a top-25 company in the healthcare information technology industry,
today announced that it has added electronic delivery functionality
(eDelivery) to its release of information (ROI) process. In compliance
with HIPAA mandates under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s
(ARRA) HITECH provision, the new eDelivery functionality allows
healthcare facilities with HealthPort ROI outsourced or Partner services
the ability to quickly and easily fulfill medical record requests for
patients who want to receive them electronically.
“This new functionality illustrates our commitment to continuously
remain in compliance with HIPAA regulations but, more importantly, gives
our provider clients the ability to provide a deeper level of customer
service to their patients”
“This new functionality illustrates our commitment to continuously
remain in compliance with HIPAA regulations but, more importantly, gives
our provider clients the ability to provide a deeper level of customer
service to their patients,” said Jan McDavid, HealthPort General Counsel
and Compliance Officer.
eDelivery provides patients with an environmentally friendly, secure and
convenient option to request copies of their medical records, if
maintained in an electronic format. In addition, eDelivery is cost
effective, eliminating the need for postage and paper, and significantly
decreases the turnaround time of medical record requests.
“As the leader of the ROI industry, our eDelivery functionality is just
one of the many investments we are making in our renowned ROI service
and technology to enhance our customers’ experience and increase patient
care and satisfaction,” said Matt Rohs, Vice President and General
Manager of ROI Services.
