Xhale Innovations (XI) announced today that it will showcase its hand hygiene system, HyGreen™, at the Fifth Decennial International Conference on Healthcare-Associated Infections to be held March 18 – 22, 2010. This real-time hand hygiene recording and reminding system is designed to assist healthcare facilities with their infection control programs.

“HyGreen™ was designed to reflect the recommended hand hygiene guidelines from leading industry experts, including the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Joint Commission.”

According to XI CTO, Dr. Richard Melker, “Healthcare associated infections take the lives of nearly 270 people in the U.S. every day and add approximately $30 - 50 billion to U.S. healthcare costs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that many of these infections are caused by the lack of hand washing before and after each patient contact. HyGreen™ addresses this problem by reminding healthcare workers to wash their hands and by recording all hand washing events and patient-staff interactions in the hospital.”

XI will be demonstrating its real-time hand hygiene monitoring system at booth #701. Its ease of use, hand hygiene reminding feature and its real-time reporting system makes HyGreen™ a comprehensive solution for any healthcare setting.

“Using HyGreen™, a healthcare facility will have the tools it needs to reduce infection rates and to better protect patients,” states XI CEO, Richard Allen.

HyGreen™ was recently awarded “Best of What’s New in 2009” from Popular Science and has been nominated for two major design awards in 2010.
