Zimmer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZMH; SIX: ZMH), a leader in musculoskeletal care, today showcased its recently released Zimmer® Patient Specific Instruments® (PSI) at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) annual meeting in New Orleans.

Zimmer Patient Specific Instruments utilize MRI technology and pre-operative planning tools to create customized cutting guides that are tailored to each patient's unique anatomy.  Customized guides for knee replacement surgery support surgeons in performing accurate and safe procedures.  Zimmer PSI may be used in minimally-invasive procedures.

"Zimmer Patient Specific Instruments can assist in expediting the total knee replacement procedure for both surgeons and patients," said Jeff McCaulley, President, Zimmer Reconstructive.  "We're excited to make these instruments available to surgeons and anticipate that PSI will become a key addition to our existing portfolio of leading technologies."

Zimmer PSI are designed to ensure accurate placement of the knee implant and are compatible with the Zimmer NexGen® Complete Knee Solution and the Gender Solutions Natural Knee® Flex systems.  Zimmer PSI streamline the surgical procedure, eliminating several steps in the total knee replacement procedure and potentially increase efficiency in the operating room.  The first knee implant procedures utilizing Zimmer PSI were recently completed and the products are now widely available to surgeons across the country.
