Emdeon introduces Office EZBill solution

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Emdeon Inc. (NYSE: EM), a leading provider of healthcare revenue and payment cycle management solutions, today announced the launch of a free service available through its Emdeon Office solution. Healthcare providers will now have the ability to submit workers' compensation and automobile medical bills and related attachments electronically through the Emdeon Office EZBill solution regardless of which practice management software they are currently using.

Texas and Minnesota have already adopted legislation that requires providers and payers to transmit workers' compensation bills and related attachments electronically and other states are considering similar legislation. Historically, healthcare providers have been limited by manual processes that require workers' compensation and automobile medical bills and attachments to be filed on paper and delivered via postal mail. For providers, paper filing requires additional manual handling by office staff and creates delays in payment with increased potential for error. The Emdeon Office EZBill solution can help providers comply with applicable state laws and offers providers the ability to reduce the amount of manual bill processing by automating the submission of these types of bills for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.

"Our goal is to streamline the process required so that bills are paid as quickly and accurately as possible," said Philip Hardin, executive vice president of provider services for Emdeon. "And with some states now mandating healthcare providers to submit workers' compensation bills electronically, it is important for us to create an easy, cost-effective solution to help deliver those bills."

Emdeon Office EZBill enables the submission of these transactions through direct data entry. Healthcare providers receive complete visibility into the bill lifecycle and are able to track bills from point-of-submission through payment. Emdeon Office EZBill also enables attachments such as medical reports and documentation to be submitted electronically along with workers' compensation and automobile medical bills. The ability to submit attachments electronically helps to eliminate a processing barrier that previously delayed payment to healthcare providers.

"Emdeon's workers' compensation solution helps us get our bills out faster and get paid quicker," said Stephanie Valdez of Progressive Billing in San Antonio, Texas. "Where we typically had to wait 30 days for bill status, now within two weeks our payments are being processed. We completely eliminated the paperwork in our workers' compensation process."

The Emdeon Office EZBill solution is available now to healthcare providers nationwide.
