Certeon, the leading provider of virtualized software-based WAN optimization and application acceleration, today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with CDG, a major distributor of leading-edge information technology in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. CDG specializes in the most innovative technologies for the WAN acceleration and cloud computing markets.
“The partnership with CDG represents a major expansion of our international distribution capabilities. We are delighted to be partnering with CDG, one of the largest and most progressive distributors in Europe”
With Certeon's aCelera virtualized WAN acceleration solutions and CDG's European system integrators, service providers and resellers throughout Europe, enterprises can improve the performance of important business applications running over the WAN, including Microsoft SharePoint, Office and Exchange Server; IBM Rational; disaster recovery; and other mission-critical applications. aCelera virtual appliances are hypervisor agnostic and are supported on both VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual operating systems.
"As a software-based WAN acceleration solution, Certeon's products provide the flexibility and agility that customers need as their networks evolve," said Oren Taylor, director at CDG. "Certeon has architected a highly scalable, future-proof WAN acceleration platform that eliminates a host of infrastructure challenges. The future for WAN optimization clearly lies in virtual software solutions. Certeon, with its proven product set, is certainly well ahead of the pack."
Aegis IT, a leading technology solutions provider in Northern England with a specialization in virtualization, is one of several CDG resellers that provide Certeon solutions. Aegis IT uses Certeon's solutions to help customers accelerate data access from remote offices where the network latency and congestion restrict application performance.
"When migrating to a virtualized environment, WAN performance at the edges of the network becomes a major issue," said David McPherson, owner and managing director of Aegis IT. "Certeon helps us accelerate data to these sites without requiring additional capital expenditures, enabling our clients to lower their operating expenses. We've found that the aCelera products are easy to install and manage and deliver the improved performance required. By bundling Certeon's products with our virtualization services, we can provide enhanced services to our clients."
CDG partners will be reselling all of Certeon's products, including the aCelera virtual appliance that accelerates within virtualized and non-virtualized infrastructures without proprietary hardware appliances: Certeon's aCelera Sync software, which enables more efficient data replication and backup over the WAN; Certeon's aCelera Management System for configuring, monitoring and managing aCelera appliances; and Certeon's aCelera Client for application acceleration over the WAN from individual local laptops and desktops. CDG will also serve as one of several demonstration sites for Certeon products in the United Kingdom.
"The partnership with CDG represents a major expansion of our international distribution capabilities. We are delighted to be partnering with CDG, one of the largest and most progressive distributors in Europe," said Peter Dougherty, CEO and president, Certeon. "CDG has an impressive track record of successfully introducing the latest technologies throughout Europe. They have the knowledge, the expertise and the right channel partners to help customers tackle their WAN optimization challenges. With our virtual appliance for WAN acceleration for VMware and Hyper-V, Certeon allows service providers to deploy services in minutes, not months."
aCelera virtual appliances enable enterprises and managed service providers to dramatically increase the performance of applications accessed over the WAN, improving application response time by up to 95 percent. aCelera's network optimization capabilities also allow enterprises to reduce their network bandwidth requirements, thereby lowering overall capital and operating costs. Independent test results from the Tolly Group show that Certeon aCelera software can support up to 50 percent more accelerated connections than do proprietary hardware appliances.
