NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII) and a leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, today responded to the final rules on Meaningful Use and Standards and Certification under the HITECH Act's Electronic Health Records (EHR) incentive program.

“Over the past several months, we've been helping clients develop Meaningful Use plans based on the proposed criteria and our step-by-step guide to using NextGen® technology in their strategies”

"We are pleased to see the final Meaningful Use criteria released to the medical provider community. Now that the requirements for Stage 1 have been completed, physicians and hospitals that have been hesitant in the past can move forward with confidence in their EHR selections," says Steven T. Plochocki, chief executive officer of Quality Systems, Inc. "Consistent with our Money-Back Guarantee, we expect our products to meet all the requirements to be named certified EHR technology. We are confident that NextGen Healthcare's technology, industry leadership and educational offerings will prove invaluable for providers in their Meaningful Use journey."

At the center of NextGen Healthcare's support for physicians' and hospitals' Meaningful Use strategies is the NextGen Path to Meaningful Use, which will outline the tools needed or recommended within NextGen® technology in order for providers to meet the requirements for securing stimulus incentives.

"Over the past several months, we've been helping clients develop Meaningful Use plans based on the proposed criteria and our step-by-step guide to using NextGen® technology in their strategies," said Charlie Jarvis, Vice President of Healthcare Services and Government Relations at NextGen Healthcare. "Yesterday we saw a significant relaxation of several compliance requirements and we are now reviewing the final rule in detail to provide our clients and prospects with an accurate road to Meaningful Use through NextGen Healthcare's suite of solutions."

Continuing a long-standing commitment to the medical community, NextGen Healthcare will also expand its educational offerings in the coming months to make sure all providers - clients, prospects, and other industry professionals - gain the knowledge needed to help them accomplish the goals of ARRA and impending Health Care Reform under the new Patient Protection Act.

NextGen Healthcare is offering the first in a series of public webinars, Breaking News: Meaningful Use Final Rule and What You Need to Know, on July 22, 2010 at 3:00 PM ET to provide an expert analysis of the final measures and objectives for ambulatory EHRs.
