Central Logic, the healthcare industry's leading provider of innovative patient flow software and consultative expertise, today announced it will host its highly-anticipated second annual Transfer Center Summit, an exclusive gathering of medical sector specialists exploring the nuances of patient transfer center management, Aug. 19-20, 2010, at the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“The information I have gathered from the dozens of transfer center experts on hand at this event has been particularly useful in our ongoing efforts to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality of care levels at Baptist Health South Florida.”

The annual symposium, attended by chief medical officers, transfer center directors, patient placement supervisors, finance and information technology (IT) managers, emergency department directors, and other critical-care professionals, is expected to draw more than double the inaugural conference attendance. Beyond its many sessions focused on patient flow and transfer center management as core healthcare system functions, the unique two-day event will also explore the myriad care, operational, efficiency, and financial aspects of patient transfer centers, and discuss best practices for their strategic design, set-up, and oversight.

In addition, Central Logic today also released the 2010 summit's full program agenda, which features an impressive line-up of speakers, including Josette Beran, executive director of Cleveland Clinic Medical; Ron Marshall, vice president of system development at Sutter Health; Omar Qassom, director of specialty service line development at HCA Gulf Coast Division; and Rick Newman, medical call center director at Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA). Other highly-regarded transfer center professionals will serve as topical session presenters, and lead roundtable and panel discussions offering practical, real-world instruction and insight.

"With patient flow issues becoming increasingly prominent in diverse medical environments, and with more patient transfer centers being established nationwide to effectively manage these important operations, we wanted to create and host a distinctive conference that serves as the world's foremost forum for the exchange of valuable transfer center information, techniques, and best practices," said Darin Vercillo, MD, co-founder and chief executive officer of Central Logic, and a practicing physician. "For these reasons, the Transfer Center Summit has become a must-attend event each year for all healthcare industry professionals responsible for, and interested in learning how best to manage patient flows within their respective organizations. Once again, at this year's summit, attendees can expect to hear, meet, and interact with leading patient flow management experts, and garner useful insights which they can apply to their own transfer processes."

"As the executive in charge of a high-volume transfer center which processes thousands of in-network and out-of-network patient flows annually, I have found the content, perspectives, and industry relationships offered by Central Logic's Transfer Center Summit to be extremely useful to the long-term viability of our operation," said Leslee Gross, transfer center director at Baptist Health's Patient Transfer Center in Miami, Fla., and a featured presenter at this year's conference. "The information I have gathered from the dozens of transfer center experts on hand at this event has been particularly useful in our ongoing efforts to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality of care levels at Baptist Health South Florida."
